A free community workshop and performance enlisting the planetary power of water to incite change.
Inspired by ancient practices and contemporary political discord, Power Objects and Impossible Demands invites participants to sculpt small clay objects that symbolize a need that seems unmeetable and/or the desire for power to effect change in kinship with the more-than-human world.
A mold will be made from each sculpture to produce power objects.
On July 18th, participants will declare an impossible demand by casting a power object into the Wallkill River. Plunging into the flow, each will conjure the global force of the world's waters as the Wallkill joins the Rondout, joins the Hudson, joins the Atlantic, and beyond.
The only experience required is a deep desire for a specific change.
Participation in the July 18th event is not required to attend the workshop. Clay sculptures will be available to take home after July 17th.
