His work can be described as “Cinematic Guitar Poetry” and with a unique blend of eclectic acoustic music with storytelling\, poetry\, and Japanese folk songs. He also uses loops to do realtime recording to create layers with voice and guitar. \nIn 2000\, Hiroya received a scholarship to Berklee College of Music and came to the United States. He formed own group in Boston “INTEROCEANICO (inter-oceanic)” which consists of unique musicians from different continents including Latin Grammy Colombian singer Marta Gomez. The group released three acclaimed records (“The Other Side of the World”\, “Confluencia” and “Where the River Shines”). Hiroya released two solo albums (“Heartland” and “Places”) from Japanese record label 333 discs. \nHiroya has been leading concerts internationally including several appearances at Blue Note in New York City with his group and Japanese National Television(NHK). Wine and cheese will be available. \nBruce Pileggi received his BFA from SUNY New Paltz in 1971. Pileggi’s work modulates between the abstract and the representational\, but is always anchored in exploring the relationship between shape\, color and line. This relationship can at times feel isolated and solitary\, even austere\, but there is an undercurrent of energetic movement and vibrancy that connects the pieces back to a larger narrative about our place as artists in society. His pieces solicit the viewer to engage and question art in society as well; one asks… is this art or decoration\, landscape or abstraction. \n URL:https://www.unisonarts.org/event/bruce-pileggi-opening-wine-and-cheese-reception/ LOCATION:68 Mountain Rest Road\, New Paltz\, 12561\, United States CATEGORIES:Arts,Current Exhibit,Events,Gallery ATTACH;FMTTYPE=image/jpeg:https://www.unisonarts.org/wp-content/uploads/2017/11/rsz_11landscapeseriesyellowstripe.jpg GEO:41.7558174;-74.1083498 X-APPLE-STRUCTURED-LOCATION;VALUE=URI;X-ADDRESS=68 Mountain Rest Road New Paltz 12561 United States;X-APPLE-RADIUS=500;X-TITLE=68 Mountain Rest Road:geo:-74.1083498,41.7558174 END:VEVENT BEGIN:VEVENT DTSTART;TZID="America/New_York":20171112T170000 DTEND;TZID="America/New_York":20171210T170000 DTSTAMP:20190825T205938 CREATED:20171027T170732Z LAST-MODIFIED:20171109T232328Z UID:977-1510506000-1512925200@www.unisonarts.org SUMMARY:BRUCE PILEGGI - Recent Work DESCRIPTION:  \nArtists Statement: \nI’ve always felt that art and the making of art are part of a conversation the artist has with himself and the world. In this way the artist offers to the world his ideas\, his thoughts and his feelings\, creating a dialogue\, a give and take\, a comparing of notes. But to what end? \nBack when I was a student I read a book by Gregory Bateson: Steps to an Ecology of Mind\, in it he states that “art is to keep life from being too purposive.” This makes sense to me: art as process and not product. Therefore\, rather than trying to arrive at some point of accomplishment\, some achievement\, some conclusion\, I just want to enjoy the journey of creating… wherever it may lead me. \n  \n  \n URL:https://www.unisonarts.org/event/bruce-pileggi-recent-work/ LOCATION:68 Mountain Rest Road\, New Paltz\, 12561\, United States CATEGORIES:Arts,Current Exhibit,Events,Gallery ATTACH;FMTTYPE=image/jpeg:https://www.unisonarts.org/wp-content/uploads/2017/10/rsz_bruce_pileggi.jpg GEO:41.7558174;-74.1083498 X-APPLE-STRUCTURED-LOCATION;VALUE=URI;X-ADDRESS=68 Mountain Rest Road New Paltz 12561 United States;X-APPLE-RADIUS=500;X-TITLE=68 Mountain Rest Road:geo:-74.1083498,41.7558174 END:VEVENT BEGIN:VEVENT DTSTART;TZID="America/New_York":20171113T180000 DTEND;TZID="America/New_York":20171113T193000 DTSTAMP:20190825T205938 CREATED:20171025T145553Z LAST-MODIFIED:20171031T160946Z UID:585-1510596000-1510601400@www.unisonarts.org SUMMARY:At the Table - A NEW Play Reading Series DESCRIPTION:Unison Arts Center is seeking all local theatre artists and theatre lovers to attend a general interest meeting in hopes of discussing future collaboration. At The Table\, at Unison will believe in the value of storytelling\, together as a community.
