A Thoughtful Conversation Series: Graceful Aging With Susan and Peter Pitzele

A Thoughtful Conversation is a group process that encourages listening, reflection, and sharing on topics and ideas of common concern to participants.
“Graceful Aging” focuses on the personal and spiritual concerns that face us in our aging. These might include health matters, family challenges, mortality, legacy, limitation and freedom, and whatever else arises over our time together.

Our open question: What might “graceful” mean in the changing context of our aging?

Clearly, “graceful aging” is a kind of aspiration rather than a methodology. Perhaps it is a practice, an intention, a way one might wish to be in relation to oneself and others. Many of us are living longer than our parents and are in fact pioneers of a longevity never before possible for so many, ours is a shared inquiry into that process.

We have been developing this Thoughtful Conversation format based on our long and varied experience as both facilitators and participants of groups – these have included educational, clinical, and spiritually engaged settings.

As a process, the Thoughtful Conversation has a modest structure that relies on the interests and needs of participants. This is not a class, for we are engaged in the same process with you. As we explore shared experience and differing perspectives, useful directions will naturally open for our inquiry.

Graceful Aging: Thoughtful Conversation Series:
Every other Wednesday from July 31-Oct 23 2:30-4 PM at Unison

 (July 31, August 14*, 28, September 11, 25, MONDAY October 7, 23)
August 14th location TBA

To attend a session, notify Ally: ally@unisonarts.org

There is a suggested contribution of $10 per session for individuals, $15 for couples, all proceeds to go to Unison. Attendance may be occasional or regular: each meeting will be viewed as a unique experience, but there will be continuities both of concern and of relationship. There is no limit to the size of the group, since there are many ways to create small group work within a larger group format. We will adjust from session to session; our goal is to be both inclusive and to make sure all voices are heard.

Questions about the group and its process may be addressed to Susan Pitzele at sspitzele@gmail.com
