The Bad Boys of the Quartet: Ravel & Beethoven
A program performed by the Hudson Valley String Quartet
When one things about musicians rebelling against tradition, classical music doesn’t instantly come to mind. Beethoven and Ravel composed the most avant garde music of their time and it wasn’t always comfortable for their audience or their critics. The Hudson Valley String Quartet will explore both the “badness” and the greatness of Ludwig von Beethoven’s quirky and beautiful Opus 59, 33 quartet, and Maurice Ravels sensuous, iconic quartet written in 1903.
