A Celebration of Shakespeare's Sonnets
performed by Don Wildy, of Mohonk Mountain Stage

The most celebrated of English sonneteers is William Shakespeare (1564-1616). Written in the 1590s but not published until 1609, the 154 sonnets are his most personal and romantic work, tempting generation upon generation to speculate upon the identities of the young man and "Dark Lady" to whom they are addressed.

In 1998 MMSC's Don Wildy performed all 154 sonnets in a five-part multi-evening program. Each and every evening was a "sell-out" with many audience members bringing their own copies of the sonnets to follow along.

In 2008, a decade later and just in time for Valentine's Day, Don will once again perform from this rarely seen MMSC program. And as an added attraction each evening's performances will be recorded by MMSC Sound Productions and will be available for purchase later in the spring.
