Urana & Luther
Urana & Luther
world music / jazz

East Meets West, Woodstock Meets Mongolia or The music of Mongolia meets Bach, Bartok, Berlin, Bird, Monk, Mulligan, Miles & Mingus.

A night of music that blends the melodies and mystery of a superb musician from the Far East with three of the most talented musicians from our neck of the woods. Urana Jaymeon, born in 1979 in Ulastai, Mongolia, attended Ulaan Baatar Music College and the Moscow Pedagogical State University and was named laureate at the 21st-Century Second International Contest, as well as Student of the Year by the Mongolian Embassy in Moscow. She has performed locally with Badma Khanda and is now touring as a soloist. She will be collaborating with Frank Luther, stand up bass sideman for many of The Band's classic albums. Rounding off this mix is Peter Beuttner of the Woodstock band Prana, who played flute with the World Beat band "Futu Futu," and T. Xiques who has played drums and percussion with jazz, rock, pop, blues, and Latin artists including Larry Coryell, Savoy Brown, Eric Wood, Kaki King, Garth Hudson, and Machan Taylor.
