This show features works by two artists who share their love for natural material, as well as their country of origin, Japan.
Kazuma Oshita reveals his deep affinity for various elements such as wood, metal, paper and charcoal, in his elegant yet powerful, sometimes whimsical sculpture and drawings.
Keiko Sono uses a candle flame as a brush, and soot as paint, to create an ephemeral drawing installation. The simple shape seen from the distance gives way to the rich, velvety black of soot, with a hint of violence, at close up.
Keiko Sono is a multi-media artist who believes in art as our evolutionary trait, as critical as the ability to stand upright. She explores this deep relationship using a wide range of platforms, from visual art to community projects.
