Kate Hamilton makes garments. She is comfortable using needle, hammer, paper, cloth and wood. In July, Hamilton will install an exploding closet of paper clothing. She uses archival waxed paper to create delicate, translucent sculpture. Her garment portraits seem to hover weightlessly in space. Hamilton created store window installations in Beacon (2010) and NewPaltz (2010). She has exhibited at BAG Gallery (Brooklyn, NY), George Segal Gallery (Montclair, NJ) and at the Samuel Dorsky Museum of Art (New Paltz, NY). Her fantastical costumes have been seen in art performances in New York and Berlin, and on stages in New York and Zurich.
