Jessica Poser is an artist and an educator living in the Hudson Valley. Her work offers views into the contemporary landscape by processing the detritus of every day life. She uses the patterns, textures and palettes of material and consumer culture with the goal of re-presenting the built environment. Her work explores the aesthetics of craft and the handmade as a means with which to reflect on the mass-produced. Jessica has shown her work in the Hudson Valley, Chicago, and New York City.
"Noise" refers to the process of video disambiguation or 'snow'. The primary materials used to make the pieces for this show are the cardboard packaging of cereal boxes and other household products, the residue of domestic consumption. The work articulates an exploration of the visual detritus or 'noise' in domestic life, creating a landscape in which the viewer can meditate on the noise of contemporary visual and material culture.
