Clay Shop
Kids in Clay Shop

with Helene Bigley

Take the bus to to Clay Shop! Buses come directly from Duzine and Lenape. Parents need to submit a letter to the school requesting a pass for their child to be on:

  • bus #119 - Duzine
  • bus #124 - Lenape

Note in the letter the specific dates for the program. The bus goes up Mountain Rest Road, turns around at Calvin Blvd, and then drops children at Unison.

Students in the Clay Shop will learn coiling, pinching and slab-work techniques. They will then decorate, glaze and fire their work. These young artists will explore and create projects such as bowls, boxes, castles, animals, figures, faces and more. Class sizes are small.

Helene Bigley studied ceramics and received a B.A. in Art Education from City College. She has worked with clay for over 20 years and has taught Clay Shop for over ten years in her Mountain Rest Road studio.
