Avakian / Champlin Duo
with special guest Sabina Torosjan on violin

"Incredible technique and timing,...most enjoyable because of the way the two guitarists interacted" Miscellany News

Classical-guitar duo Helen Avakian and Terry Champlin play every genre with style and passion, taking a musical journey from Baroque to folk. They have played at Lincoln Center, New York International Guitar Seminar and on public radio and television. They will perform works by Vivaldi, Hovhaness, Gershwin and Sabicas as well as their own compositions. Helen Avakian is accompanist for the flamenco dance program at Bard College. She is an award-winning singer/songwriter voted favorite acoustic act four times by Rhythm and News magazine. Terry Champlin was educated as a theoretical physicist at MIT but switched to music at age 21. He has written over 100 compositions ranging from solo classical-guitar pieces to orchestral works. His music has been performed by Evangelos and Liza, David Starobin and the New York Guitar Quartet. Champlin is on the faculties of Vassar College and Mannes College of Music.
