Art as Nature

with Meagan Lara Shapiro, for children ages 8-11

This program has been moved back two weeks: it now starts on September 27 and extends to December 13. Sorry for any inconvenience.

Take the bus to to Art is Nature! Buses come directly from Duzine and Lenape. Parents need to submit a letter to the school requesting a pass for their child to be on:

  • bus #119 - Duzine
  • bus #124 - Lenape

Note in the letter the specific dates for the program. The bus goes up Mountain Rest Road, turns around at Calvin Blvd, and then drops children at Unison.

Nature will serve as our inspiration and subject of investigation in the beautiful surrounds of Unison. Our art will be created through drawing, painting, and sculpture; graphite, oil pastel, watercolor, natural pigment paints and found materials. All levels of experience welcome.

Meagan Lara Shapiro received her BA from the University of California Santa Cruz, her BFA from The California College of Arts and did graduate studies at The New York Academy of Art. She has taught art to children and adults of all ages for the past 12 years. Her art work has been exhibited widely since 1998 and continues to inform and inspire her teaching.
